Job summary

UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services seeks a Principal Housekeeping Manager to oversee housekeeping for 3,638 off-campus apartment units across 86 complexes, two condo buildings, and three single-family homes. The role ensures high cleaning standards and safety in a large residential community.

You will supervise 16–24 full-time custodians and up to 35 seasonal staff, hire and train personnel, manage the $2.8M budget, and collaborate with rental and facilities teams to keep operations running

Qualifications

• 3-4 years custodial experience in a large institution.
• 2 years previous experience leading or managing teams.
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures; AFSCME agreement and personnel policies.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and relational databases.
• Ability to read/write English and prepare reports.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Knowledge of safety rules for cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Budgeting and inventory management experience.
• Experience supervising and coordinating custodial staff and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 16–24 full-time custodians and up to 35 seasonal staff.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Manage departmental labor budget and roughly $2.8M expenditures.
• Oversee on-site quality inspections and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with rental and facilities teams to maintain occupancy and service levels.
