Job summary

Michigan State University in East Lansing is seeking a Case Culinary Platform Attendant to support the Residential Dining Culinary Platform. The role involves preparing, organizing, and supplying food items across salad bars and service areas, while upholding food safety and customer service standards.

You will work with a diverse team in a fast-paced dining hall, performing station prep, assisting cooks, and ensuring timely meals for students, staff, and guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of full-time food prep experience.
• Knowledge of kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to read weights and measures; measure ingredients.
• Basic arithmetic with whole numbers and fractions.
• Experience with sautéing, display cooking, deep frying, grilling, and steaming.
• Occasional lifting of 26–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Station Prep & Organization: Set up and maintain salad bars, hot/cold stations, and to-order service areas.
• Culinary Assistance: Help cooks by measuring ingredients and assembling meals.
• Food Safety and Quality: Use proper handling, rotation, and storage to reduce waste and spoilage.
• Customer Service: Serve meals with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
• Team Collaboration: Work with a diverse workforce to maintain efficient dining hall operations.
