Job summary

Brigham Young University (BYU) seeks a Construction Superintendent / Carpenter to lead carpentry on campus, supervise crews, and ensure quality workmanship. The role includes hands-on carpentry alongside supervisory duties, safety enforcement, and on-site direction under project plans.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years as journeyman carpenter, strong communication and planning abilities, and a valid Utah license.

Qualifications

• Two years' Journeyman Carpentry experience or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
• Ability to read and understand building plans with knowledge of building codes and regulations.
• Maintain good working relationships with all involved personnel, treating others with respect.
• Valid Utah Driver's License and ability to pass a physical and lift test.

Responsibilities

• Supervision, safety, and project management for carpentry work.
• Construction and remodeling projects on campus.
• Respond to maintenance requests and repairs.
• Complete all required safety training.
• Handle unscheduled shop requests with varying urgency.
• Train, mentor, and onboard new hires and shop employees.
