Job summary

Chapman University seeks a skilled Carpenter to perform rough and finish carpentry at interior and exterior locations on campus. Responsibilities include constructing, installing, repairing wood structures, fixtures and related components, plus concrete work to support Facilities Management.

The role requires journey-level tool proficiency, ability to work at heights, and a collaborative, safety-conscious approach to campus projects. On-campus position with departmental coordination.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan, prioritize and complete carpentry projects.
• Ability to communicate with campus staff, faculty and students.
• Journeyman knowledge and experience with carpentry tools and materials.
• Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Team oriented work approach.

Responsibilities

• Interior carpentry: hang doors, minor wall framing, cabinets and countertops, shelving.
• Exterior carpentry: fabricate and install pedestal and related hardscape, exterior repairs.
• Assist with rain leak emergencies and campus projects.
• Measure, order and schedule campus projects, ensure paperwork.
• Contact contractors and vendors; ensure work meets university standards.
• Assist other trades as needed.
