Job summary

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. This on-site role covers classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

No formal education is required and on-the-job training is provided. Prior customer service experience is preferred, and a minimum age of 18 is required. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package and values veterans.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred qualifications include prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairs.
• Sweep, mop, and remove debris; clean spills in designated areas.
• Regularly empty trash and maintain recycling.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain communication with clients, staff, shift coordinators, and supervisors.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed for cleaning.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors; dust desks and fixtures.
• Wipe tabletops and equipment in food areas; polish surfaces.
• Perform seasonal tasks like raking leaves and snow removal as needed.
• Ensure restroom cleanliness and comply with safety, security, and quality standards.
