Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. This role emphasizes safe handling of cleaners, regular sanitation, and timely maintenance tasks to support a clean learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred qualifications: Prior customer service experience.
• One (1) year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms and offices.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris and clean spills in designated areas.
• Empty trash cans and monitor recycling in all areas.
• Follow chemical cleaning procedures to protect floors and fixtures.
• Communicate needs for repairs with lead cleaner or manager.
• Maintain courteous communication with clients and colleagues.
• Move furniture and equipment to access cleaning areas as needed.
• Clean interior windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with cleaners.
• Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal or lawn care as applicable.
• Keep restrooms clean and stocked in accordance with standards.
