Job summary

ABM is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at K-12 or higher education campuses. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and daily maintenance of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. On-site position with on-the-job training available.

Preferred candidates may have prior customer service experience and up to one year of related work. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package and is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients and co-workers.
• Move furniture to clean areas and clean interior surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Maintain restrooms and report safety or compliance issues.
