Job summary

Phoenix Job Corps Center in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support cafeteria operations, manage inventory logistics, and ensure a clean, welcoming dining environment. You will supervise student interns in the Work-Based Learning program, handle food prep tasks, sanitation, and assist with dining setup and breakdown.

This full-time, non-exempt role offers opportunities to mentor youth, contribute to campus operations, and help create a positive dining experience for students

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Background working in commercial cafeterias, catering operations, or large-scale hospitality environments is highly valued.
• Credentials: Ability to successfully secure and maintain a local Food Handling or Health Certification.
• Physical Strength: Standing for long periods, walking, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Communication: Strong teamwork skills with the ability to clearly swap information, follow supervisor directions, and solve fast-moving workplace problems.

Responsibilities

• Inventory Logistics: Direct the flow of food, supplies, and equipment between storage units and the kitchen to ensure the team has exactly what they need.
• Prep Support: Handle foundational food preparation tasks to keep the line moving efficiently.
• Dining Environment Management: Organize dining tables and seating configurations to keep the cafeteria inviting.
• Sanitation Engineering: Maintain an ultra-clean facility including dishwashing, deep-cleaning equipment, vent screens, and floor care.
• Student Leadership: Supervise student interns in Work-Based Learning, teaching accountability and professionalism.
