Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Store Manager to lead the daily operation of our campus bookstore. You will drive sales, supervise staff, and build strong relationships with students, faculty, and campus administration while ensuring exceptional customer service.

The role requires 5+ years of supervisory experience in retail or completion of the Best Seller Program, plus a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ supervisory experience in a retail setting preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
• Leadership experience to direct and develop a workforce of managers and sales associates.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills to manage campus relationships and corporate initiatives while achieving customer sales and service goals.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Execute developed business strategies and identify opportunities to drive sales, increase customer satisfaction, and expand store traffic.
• Demonstrate strong delegation, follow-up, and management skills to maintain visual merchandising standards and inventory levels.
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and sales through effective scheduling and staff development.
• Identify creative solutions, adapt to change, and act as a change agent for the store.
• Analyze sales figures, interpret trends, and forecast future sales to manage costs and profitability.
• Maintain standards for quality, customer service, and safety with a clean, safe store environment.
