Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Hawaii seeks a Department Manager to lead store operations and guest experiences in our campus retail environment. You will oversee one or more departments, ensure proper merchandising, and deliver exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and the broader community.

The role requires at least 2 years of retail management experience (or completion of the Best Seller Program), strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work evenings,

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in retail management or completion of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support store operations and departments in partnership with management.
• Provide direct oversight of one or more departments and ensure merchandising and operations.
• Maintain knowledge of all departments to support customers and team members.
• Act as the Manager-on-Duty to provide daily guidance and support.
• Maintain a welcoming sales floor and assist customers with purchases.
