Job summary

The Steamfitter position supports the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of the university's steam, hot water, and condensate systems. It performs skilled trade work installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining piping and related equipment that serve academic, residential, and administrative facilities campus-wide.

The role is essential to preventive maintenance, emergency response, and continuity of building operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; journey-level trade experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical drawings.
• Must have valid driver's license and be able to respond to emergencies outside normal hours.
• MD Third Grade Stationary Engineer licensure required; coursework/experience substituted per policy.

Responsibilities

• Support safe operation and maintenance of steam, hot water, and condensate systems campus-wide.
• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain piping and associated mechanical equipment.
• Participate in preventive maintenance and emergency response to ensure building operations.
