Job summary

The University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont seeks a Satellite Boiler Operator to operate, repair, and maintain steam and hydronic heating systems, with emphasis on safety and efficiency. You will coordinate with campus staff, access desktop tools, and support energy conservation initiatives while ensuring reliable university operations.

Required are a high school diploma and three years of heating/cooling experience, plus specific VT certificates or the ability to obtain them within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related training and three years of heating/cooling systems experience.
• VT Fuel Oil Burner Installer (Limited) Certificate and VT Natural Gas Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Experience with boiler automation systems and safe operation of boilers.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair and maintain steam and hydronic heating systems and related equipment.
• Communicate with building occupants and university personnel to optimize energy use.
• Access information using appropriate desktop applications and promote safety in the shop and field.
• May operate University vehicle and work under supervision while learning social justice and inclusion principles.
