Job summary

The Sierra Club is seeking a Director of the Beyond Coal Campaign to lead strategy, fundraising, and donor stewardship, advancing an equitable transition to 100% clean energy. This senior role will shape power sector policy and build collaborative partnerships to achieve measurable and just outcomes.

You will oversee a national campaign team, manage budgets, and partner across departments to ensure justice and inclusion while delivering significant climate impact.

Qualifications

• Proven track record raising six- and seven-figure grants and gifts.
• Experience leading large campaigns or organizations.
• Ability to manage complex budgets and demonstrate ROI to donors.
• Strong communication with media and key decision-makers.
• Commitment to racial and environmental justice.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising for the Beyond Coal Campaign, securing revenue for the annual budget and managing a pipeline of foundations and major donors.
• Steward donor relationships; draft grant deliverables and reports; communicate campaign impact to funders.
• Manage a large, complex budget; allocate resources to campaign goals.
• Lead campaign strategy, planning, evaluation; advance clean energy goals and equitable outcomes.
• Provide strategic leadership; delegate, coach staff, hire/terminate; build stakeholder alignment.
• Supervise and mentor up to 6 staff; performance management.
• Engage with the Energy Campaigns Team; coordinate across Sierra Club departments.
• Serve as spokesperson with media and partners.
• Perform miscellaneous duties.
