Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a Camp Specialist to design and deliver a program specialty, tailored to each age group. You will work with counselors to ensure engaging, creative activities that build skills, cooperation, and self-esteem.

You will lead activities, assist in planning themes and events, supervise youth, and uphold the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility throughout the camp season.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience teaching, youth work, recreation or related field.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to relate to children and communicate in various venues (public speaking, presentations).
• Ability to supervise others and facilitate learning in others.

Responsibilities

• Plan, setup and deliver activities within the specialty area for age-specific groups.
• Lead specialty activities with assistance from counselors.
• Instruct counselors on how to teach activities and encourage leadership.
• Maintain inventory and assist in ordering supplies; keep storage organized.
• Uphold YMCA, ACA, and NJ Licensing standards for camper safety and program quality.
