Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges in Newton, NJ is seeking a mission-driven individual to support youth programs as a part-time camp staff member. Lead activities such as archery, boating, climbing wall, hikes, and science classes while ensuring a high standard of guest service and safety.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, weekend availability, and the ability to lead groups; CPR/First Aid certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Weekend availability required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families and staff.
• Ability to lead group activities and small classes.

Responsibilities

• Follow risk management guidelines and camp rules at all times.
• Lead camp activities such as archery, boating, climbing wall, hikes and science classes.
• Prepare lessons for assigned classes and ensure accurate knowledge is conveyed.
• Provide exceptional customer service and respond to guest questions.
• Maintain professionalism, cleanliness, and respectful conduct.
• Assist with setup/cleanup of camp areas and equipment.
• Support fellow staff and align with YMCA goals and philosophies.
