YMCA of Youngstown is seeking a dedicated Food Service Lead to support camp operations, prepare meals for campers and staff, and assist in menu development. Responsibilities include supervising on days when the Head Chef is off, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining compliance with health regulations.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in food preparation.
• Current Safe Serve Certification.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Personal commitment to servant leadership and core YMCA values.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
• Obtain required training within 90 days: New Staff Orientation, CPR/FA, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, and Y Leader.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operation of the camp’s food service on days Head Chef is off.
• Assist the Head Chef in the creation of the menu.
• Prepare and cook food as the menu indicates including special dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free).
• Assist with managing food costs in relation to the budget and minimize waste.
• Help maintain clean and safe kitchen work areas, inventory, freezer, refrigerator, dining room, and loading dock in accordance with State Health regulations.
• Model relationship-building skills and respond to participants and community inquiries promptly.
