Job summary

YMCA Camp Cherokee seeks a Kitchen Manager to direct the camp's food-service operation for the Resident Summer Camp program. You will oversee purchasing, inventory, meal preparation, sanitation, and staff management to deliver safe, nutritious meals.

You will coordinate weekly menus, accommodate special diets, manage ordering, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards, while fostering teamwork among kitchen staff.

Qualifications

• Desire to work in the food service area.
• Knowledge of correct food preparation, serving and storage.
• Understanding of different food allergies and special diets (gluten free, dairy free, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Direct the overall food-service operation for the camp dining program.
• Coordinate daily kitchen and dining room activities.
• Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced camp meals.
• Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of meals.
• Oversee inventory, ordering of food, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with SC health and camp standards.
• Assist with interviewing and hiring kitchen staff.
• Plan meals for campers with special diets and allergies.
• Monitor staff performance and training.
