Job summary

Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) in Austin, TX seeks a Full-Time Camp Director for Lake Travis. You will own and elevate all summer camp operations, oversee safety, ACA/DSHS compliance, and vendor management, while leading a team of 25-35 seasonal staff across sessions.

You will recruit and coach staff, drive year-round recruitment, manage budgets, and develop the Counselor-in-Training curriculum. The role requires onsite living during sessions and offers salary between 50,000 and 65,000 USD per year.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in camp leadership, site operations, youth programming or related field.
• 2+ years of people leadership.
• Knowledge of camp management systems preferred.
• Ability to develop reports and meet deadlines.
• Experience with ACA/DSHS compliance or safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full life cycle of Lake Travis camp sessions—from opening/closing rituals to ACA/DSHS compliance, safety protocols, facility upkeep, and vendor management.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of seasonal staff, kitchen crew, and volunteers.
• Direct daily operations, facilities upkeep, kitchen services, and emergency protocols for all sessions, ensuring ACA accreditation.
• Drive camper recruitment year-round by engaging families, schools, and partners, and organize family connection events.
• Use data to elevate programming, refine staff training, and enhance camper experience.
• Manage camp budget, inventory, procurement, vendor relationships, and end-of-season reporting.
• Design and deliver CIT curriculum, mentoring youth into future camp staff.
