Job summary

Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) seeks a Camp Director to own Lake Travis camp operations, ensuring ACA/DSHS compliance, safety, and high-quality program delivery. The role oversees staff recruitment, training, and collaboration with a dedicated team across sessions.

You will lead year-round recruitment, manage budgets, safety protocols, and vendor relationships while developing leadership through the Counselor-in-Training program.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of camp leadership, site operations, youth programming or related field.
• 2+ years of people leadership.
• Knowledge of camp management systems preferred.
• Ability to establish priorities, develop reports, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain composure and work under pressure.
• Ability to acquire and maintain required certifications (Lifeguard CPR/First Aid, Ropes Course, Food Handlers, Youth Protection).
• Experience leveraging camp management platforms such as CampBrain or similar.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Conversational Spanish proficiency (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead the full life cycle of Lake Travis camp sessions—from opening/closing rituals to ACA/DSHS compliance, safety protocols, facility upkeep, and vendor management.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of seasonal staff, kitchen crew, and collegiate volunteers.
• Direct daily operations, facilities upkeep, kitchen services, and emergency protocols for all Lake Travis sessions.
• Drive camper recruitment year-round by engaging families, schools, and local partners.
• Use qualitative and quantitative data to elevate programming and staff training.
• Manage the camp budget, inventory, procurement, vendor relationships, and end-of-season reporting.
• Design and deliver curriculum for Counselor-in-Training program.
