Job summary

Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps in Austin, TX, is seeking a Full-Time Camp Director for the Lake Travis location. This on-site role leads all summer camp operations, safety, and staff management for the flagship 10‑day/9‑night sessions, with rotation across seasonal camps.

You will recruit and coach 25–35 seasonal staff, ensure ACA/DSHS standards, and drive year-round camper recruitment in collaboration with HR and community partners. Housing is provided only during active sessions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in camp leadership, site operations, youth programming or related field
• 2+ years of people leadership experience
• Knowledge of camp management systems preferred
• Ability to establish priorities, develop reports and meet deadlines
• Ability to maintain composure and work under pressure
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check
• Conversational Spanish (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Child Development, Outdoor Recreation or similar degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead Lake Travis camp sessions from opening/closing rituals to ACA/DSHS compliance, safety protocols, facility upkeep and vendor management
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and inspire a high-performing seasonal staff and volunteers
• Direct daily camp operations, facilities upkeep, kitchen services, and emergency protocols for all Lake Travis sessions
• Drive camper recruitment year-round by engaging families, schools, and local partners
• Use data to elevate programming, refine staff training, and enhance camper experience
• Manage the camp budget, inventory, procurement, vendor relationships, and end-of-season reporting
• Design and deliver curriculum for the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program
