Job summary

Austin Sunshine Camps is seeking a Camp Director for the Zilker location to oversee all summer camp operations, safety, and programming. You will lead a team of seasonal staff across sessions, ensure ACA and Texas DSHS compliance, and drive recruitment and engagement with families and partners.

The role requires 4+ years in camp leadership and 2+ years of people leadership, with a focus on building structures, processes, and high-quality camper experiences.

Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years of experience in camp leadership, site operations, youth programming or related field.
• 2+ years of people leadership experience.
• Ability to establish priorities, develop reports and meet deadlines.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and hold relevant certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of Zilker camp sessions, including opening/closing rituals, safety protocols, and vendor management.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and inspire a team of 40–50 seasonal staff per session.
• Direct daily operations, facilities upkeep, kitchen services, and emergency protocols; ensure ACA accreditation and DSHS standards.
• Drive year‑round camper recruitment and organize seasonal family events.
• Design and deliver curriculum for the Counselor-in-Training program and mentor youth.
• Manage camp budget, inventory, procurement, and end‑of‑season reporting.
