Concord Parks and Recreation is seeking Summer Camp Counselors for 2025! Work hours are typically from 7:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. While applicants do not need valid American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications to apply, they must pass the class and present certification cards by June 1. Job Summary

Applicants must be dependable, enjoy working with children, creative, and possess good communication and problem-solving skills. All applicants must have standard First Aid, AED, and Infant & Child and Adult CPR certifications. Prior experience working with children is required. Specialized skills in areas such as special events, arts and crafts, sports, games, and working with school-aged youth are a plus. Applicants must be 17 or older, and those 18 and over are required to pass a Criminal Background Check.

Examples of Duties

• Work under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and Camp Supervisor.
• Supervise, ensure safety, and prevent accidents among camp participants; serve as a positive role model.
• Follow all guidelines in the Camp Counselor's Handbook; wear approved city uniform while on duty; administer First Aid and CPR as needed.
• Plan and implement daily camp activities.
• Maintain the camp facility, supplies, and equipment; distribute camp calendars and parent release forms for field trips.
• Take daily attendance, complete accident and incident reports, and report issues to supervisors.
• Enforce departmental discipline procedures and follow class registration procedures.
• Act as a liaison between the Parks & Recreation Department, campers, and parents.
• Supervise Counselor in Training (CIT) participants and foster their learning and development.
• May need to lift items over 25 lbs.
• Perform other duties as required.

Supplemental Information

Attendance at in-service training in early June and staff meetings is required.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
