Description

Windham Explorers Summer Camp, run at Center School in Windham, NH, is seeking Jr. Counselors and Counselors for the summer 2025 season! If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can build your leadership skills, have a meaningful impact on others, and enjoy your summer playing games and having fun with a supportive team – this is the opportunity for YOU!

Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, serves youth ages 6-13 while coaching campers to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.

Counselors will be assigned to a unit/group of same-age campers that best fits their preferences, experiences and the needs of the camp. They will work with fellow counselors to manage campers, facilitate and participate in camp activities, and build valuable peer to peer connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
  • Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents
  • Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities – arts & crafts, STEM, active games and more
  • Engage positively in camp life in a variety of weather and locations – indoors, outside, aquatics area, in the rain, summer heat, and beyond!
  • Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
  • Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage

Qualifications:

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred
  • Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
  • Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
  • Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work

Position Specifics:

  • Camp season runs 06/23/25 through 08/22/25 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks
