Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Maintenance Area Superintendent (Sp)-Safety Officer in Calaveras County to serve as the Safety Officer and address safety and health issues among maintenance staff. You will prepare reports for management and participate on multi-disciplinary committees.

This permanent, full time, in-office role requires a valid California CDL, background check, and safety training delivery; salary range $7,306.00 - $9,068.00 monthly.

Qualifications

• Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Provide CDL number, class, expiration date, endorsements/restrictions on application.
• Background Investigation will be cleared prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Safety Officer: research and address safety and health issues raised by Maintenance employees and provide reports to management.
• Participate on Accident Review Teams and various multi-disciplinary committees; perform field safety reviews and tailgate safety meetings.
• Present safety-related training to maintenance personnel and review safety charging practices in IMMS.

Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager I, this Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent serves as the Safety Officer. The Safety Officer is responsible to research and address safety and health issues raised by Maintenance employees and provide reports to management; serve on various multi-disciplinary committees; perform field safety reviews attend tailgate safety meetings; acts as safety representative for Maintenance in the planning phase for project development; review proper safety charging practices in IMMS; investigate accidents and participate on Accident Review Teams. The Safety Officer will present safety-related training to maintenance personnel. The ability to effectively utilize written and oral communication skills is essential.
