The State of California is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker to operate various equipment for maintenance tasks under supervision. The role includes snow removal and may involve leading a crew. Candidates must possess a valid Class A driver's license and be prepared for extreme working conditions.

Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, and the functional direction of a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Leadworker, the incumbent operates various equipment, including but not limited to passenger vehicles, pickups, vans, utility bodies, trucks (including dump trucks), construction equipment (mowers, graders, tractors, loaders, excavators, backhoes, forklifts), and snow removal equipment (plows, wings, blowers). The role involves working individually or with a crew on snow removal and highway maintenance tasks. In the absence of the supervisor or leadworker, the incumbent may lead or coordinate work. The position may require working for different supervisors or units based on workload. Training will be provided. A valid Class A driver’s license with tank endorsement is required.
The position is based at 1001 North Beale Rd., Marysville, Yuba County, and involves working in extreme conditions, including high heat, cold, wind, rain, sleet, and snow. Overtime may be required during storms, emergencies, or special projects. New state candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the applicable range.
