Job summary

Atelier Ten US seeks an Environmental Designer Energy Analyst in San Francisco with a specialty in California Title 24 Energy Code. You will perform whole-building energy modeling and prepare compliance documentation to advance energy efficiency and decarbonization.

You will collaborate with architects and interdisciplinary teams, develop energy analysis tools, and help deliver high-performance buildings. 1–3 years of relevant energy analysis experience and expertise with simulation software are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Sustainable Building Design
• 1–3 years professional work experience in building energy analysis and California Title 24 Energy Code compliance modeling including use of specialized energy simulation software (IESVE, EnergyPlus, CBECC, EnergyPro and/or eQuest)
• Proficiency in applying heat transfer concepts to evaluate building envelopes, passive strategies, and thermodynamics
• Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems design for commercial buildings
• Understanding and application of ASHRAE Standards 55, 62.1, 90.1, and 189
• Demonstrated competency in California’s Title 24, Part 6 Energy Code and energy compliance modeling
• Experience with Green Building Rating Systems (LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge)
• MS Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Develop energy models and compliance documentation for California Title 24 Part 6 projects using approved compliance software, supporting project teams through design, permitting, and code review processes
• Learn our energy analysis protocols following ASHRAE 90.1 for new and existing buildings and planning projects
• Develop shoe-box and whole building energy models in CBECC, EnergyPro and/or IES-VE for various energy analyses
• Identify and analyze net-zero energy and carbon strategies based on metrics such as carbon emissions and time of use
• Analyze building envelope, HVAC, lighting, and hot water systems for California Energy Code compliance and identify cost-effective pathways to exceed requirements
• Prepare written summaries of work and technical reports for clients and stakeholders
• Support senior staff to coordinate sustainability assessments, energy benchmarking, and climate impact mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with architects to recommend energy and carbon improvements
• Attend site visits and present analyses to stakeholders
• Develop and maintain in-house databases and tools for energy analysis
