Job summary

Atelier Ten San Francisco is seeking an Environmental Designer Energy Analyst with expertise in California's Title 24 Part 6 to deliver high-performance building projects.

You will perform whole-building energy modeling, prepare compliance documentation, and collaborate with project teams to advance energy efficiency, decarbonization, and building performance goals, supporting multiple locations and climate zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in a field related to Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Sustainable Building Design.
• 1-3 years professional work experience in building energy analysis and California Title 24 Energy Code compliance modeling.
• Proficiency in heat transfer concepts to evaluate building envelopes, passive strategies, thermodynamics.
• Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems design for commercial buildings.
• Understanding of ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1, and 189.
• Competency in California’s Title 24, Part 6 Energy Code and energy compliance modeling.
• Experience with Green Building Rating Systems (LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge).
• Verbal and written fluency in English.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Develop energy models and compliance documentation for California Title 24 Part 6 projects using approved compliance software.
• Learn energy analysis protocols of ASHRAE 90.1 for new and existing buildings.
• Develop shoe-box and whole building energy models in CBECC, EnergyPro and/or IES-VE.
• Identify and analyze net-zero energy and carbon strategies.
• Analyze building envelope, HVAC, lighting, and DHW systems for code compliance.
• Prepare summaries of work and technical reports for clients or stakeholders.
• Coordinate sustainability assessments, energy benchmarking, and climate mitigation studies.
• Collaborate with architects to recommend energy and carbon improvements.
• Attend site visits and present analyses to stakeholders.
• Develop new approaches and tools to improve team efficiency.
• Maintain in-house databases and spreadsheet tools, methods and standards.
