Job summary

Orchid Insurance, an Arrowhead Intermediaries company, is expanding into California and seeks an Agency Development Manager to build our independent agency distribution from the ground up.

As an ADM, you will train and guide agency partners, recruit and onboard new independents, and collaborate with underwriting, sales, and marketing to drive growth while navigating California’s regulatory landscape. This remote role requires frequent travel within the territory.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six+ years in Property & Casualty with personal lines.
• Proven outside sales or agency management results.
• Remote role; must reside in California.
• Frequent travel within the assigned territory.
• Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Build and execute a territory plan to launch Orchid in California.
• Recruit, appoint and onboard new independent agencies, and be their main contact.
• Train agents on CA surplus lines placement and disclosure requirements.
• Partner with underwriting on referrals and appetite.
• Track agency activations, submissions, quote-to-bind ratio.
• Represent Orchid at CA agent association events.
• Develop and nurture relationships to drive risk selection and long-term partnerships.
• Generate new premium growth through interaction with agencies.
• Identify and develop new agency opportunities through prospecting.
• Deliver training and ongoing support to agencies.
• Serve as subject matter expert on product offerings and core systems.
• Provide account management support and maintain Salesforce records.
• Collaborate with marketing for agency communications.
• Proactively monitor KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Communicate competitive information to product management.
• Meet or exceed goals.
• Travel for in-person agency visits.
• Represent the company at trade shows and in-person visits.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
