Job summary

Bauer Compressors, Inc. is seeking a Calibration Technician to perform and document standard relief valve testing and pressure gauge calibrations in the laboratory for high-pressure systems.

You will also assemble gas monitoring systems and maintain certification records, reporting to the Director of Quality. The role requires at least two years in a calibration lab, strong math skills, and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pressure calibrations (pressure gauges, force gauges, torque wrenches, etc.) and records data.
  • Sets and tests pneumatic safety relief valves.
  • Maintains stock levels of RV and pressure gauges to meet production requirements.
  • Documents calibration certificates and maintains certification records.
  • Performs sound level measurements IAW ISO standards.
  • Performs vibration analysis of compressor units versus historical data.
  • Maintains calibration and measurement records in databases (MS Access, Excel, or Made2Manage).
  • Assembles electrochemical sensor packages with proper ESD precautions.
  • Follows Bauer Quality Management System procedures.
  • Supports Quality and Calibration team with process improvement projects.

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Calibration Technician performs and documents standard relief valve (RV) testing and pressure gauge calibrations and measurements in the laboratory for the high-pressure systems and components. They are additionally responsible for the assembly, calibration, and repair of gas monitoring systems. The Calibration Technician reports to the Director of Quality


JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Performs pressure calibrations (pressure gauges, force gauges, torque wrenches, etc.) according to requirements and records associated data in databases.

  • Sets and tests pneumatic safety relief valves.

  • Maintains stock levels of RV and pressure gauges to meet established production requirements and safety stock levels.

  • Documents calibration certificates and maintains certification records.

  • Performs sound level measurements IAW ISO standards.

  • Performs vibration analysis of compressor units versus historical data.

  • Maintains calibration and measurement records in various databases (MS Access, Excel, or Made2Manage).

  • Assembles electrochemical sensor packages with proper ESD precautions.

  • Use principles of pressure, flow, and gas concentrations to perform gas monitoring system calibration.

  • Follows the documented procedures in the Bauer Quality Management System.

  • Supports the Quality and Calibration team with process improvement projects.

  • Reviews problems with parts/equipment purchased for use in the units built by BCI.

  • Contacts vendors to report deficiencies and arrange for the return of the failed item for rework or replacement using the vendor’s RMA / Warranty system.

  • Operate the facility tool crib performing calibration recall functions to maintain the highest degree of readiness for production of products.

  • Maintain tool inventory as needed, adhering to budget constraints, to maintain the highest degree of readiness for production of products.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


  • High school or technical school diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in a calibration lab.

  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Proficient in ESD procedures.

  • Able to handle multiple projects at one time.

  • Able to accomplish assigned tasks in the time scheduled for completion.

  • Strong math skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize demands.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.

  • Military Calibration/PMEL/TMDE training


VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree or in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Engineering

  • Technology, Metrology or Mechatronics.

  • Formal training in Metrology.

The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed 80 dBA. The employee is required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, etc.) while working or when walking through the facility.


Flexible working schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm EST; occasional overtime and weekend hours required at times.
