Job summary

Bauer Compressors, Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector to support quality assurance across the production process. You will update QA databases, participate in ISO 9001 audits, and ensure documentation accuracy while reviewing BOMs and sales orders for completeness.

The role requires the ability to read schematics, inspect both received and shipped parts, and maintain a neat, organized workspace with strong attention to detail. Monday–Friday schedule with regular attendance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or technical school.
  • 1–3 years quality inspection/manufacturing/assembly experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Able to read engineering/electrical schematics.
  • Able to interpret wiring/tubing/structural drawings.

  • Pay or shift range: $22 USD to $28 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

POSITION SUMMARY The Quality Inspector performs quality assurance activities and provides technical support to the Quality and Assembly Departments to improve efficiency, product quality, and workflow throughout the production process.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Inputs, updates, and maintains quality assurance data in the QA databases.
  • Have a working knowledge of ISO 9001 and participate in audit related activities.
  • Timely completion of quality documentation.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as manufacturing issues and the design of products for consideration by other company employees.
  • Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Reviews problems with parts/equipment purchased for use in the units built by BCI.
  • Inspection of both products received and shipped to meet BCI Quality requirements. Notify correct departments if any issues are discovered.
  • Audit Bill of Material(BOM) and Sales Order to ensure all issued parts are with the job and of the required quantity. If not, network with warehouse, engineering, and production coordinators to have the required parts delivered.
  • Review digital and physical paperwork for correct information and completeness.
  • Use laser engraving machines to create equipment identification tags.
  • Use M2M to research job order/sales order information.
  • Properly maintain job paperwork, including job orders, drawings, Bill of Material changes, sales order changes, etc.
  • Use Vault to access assembly and schematic drawings.
  • Analyze assembly and schematic drawings to determine any need for revisions and refer to the engineering department.
  • Understand when and how to utilize the BOMAF and MPL processes.
  • Monitor quality related KPI's (Key Process Indicators).
  • Install baffles, belt guards, and panels on tested equipment when needed.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work area.
  • Photograph finished equipment, all parts shipping with finished equipment, and upload to the QA SharePoint page.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School or technical school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of quality inspection, manufacturing, or technical assembly experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in reading engineering and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to interpret wiring/tubing/structural drawings/specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Possess an understanding of electrical wiring and harnessing.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for placement of parts.
  • Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power and air tools.
  • Able to identify and safely operate various measurement tools.
  • Possess high-quality standards.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or another related field.
  • Experience in LEAN/Six Sigma concepts.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience a plus.
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
  • Experience with fabrication equipment and machinery.
  • Familiarity with AWS (American welding society) standards and welding practices.
  • Experience with metal paint applications and the associated core steps.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly.

The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dBA. The employee is required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, etc.) while working or when walking through the plant.

Normal working schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am to 4:00pm EST; occasional overtime and weekend hours required at times.
