Calibration Technician

Position Overview:
The Calibration Technician plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and reliable operation of critical instruments and systems used in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. This position is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment across the manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Calibration & Maintenance:
    Perform calibration of a wide range of instruments and equipment, including temperature, pressure, flow, pH, and other process controls, to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, cGMP).
  2. Maintain calibration records in accordance with established procedures and industry regulations, ensuring all data is documented accurately.
  3. Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and corrective actions on instrumentation and control systems to address calibration failures or discrepancies.
  4. Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new instrumentation and equipment.
  5. Ensure calibration and maintenance schedules are adhered to, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

  1. Quality & Compliance:
    Ensure that calibration activities comply with our quality standards, cGMP, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO).
  2. Support internal and external audits by providing calibration data and documentation as required.
  3. Assist in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for calibration processes.
  4. Support the documentation and investigation of calibration-related deviations and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  1. Equipment & Systems Support:
    Monitor equipment performance and provide recommendations for improvements to enhance reliability and prevent future calibration issues.
  2. Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to address equipment failures or issues impacting calibration accuracy.
  3. Assist in troubleshooting complex instrumentation issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve them effectively.

  1. Continuous Improvement:
    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize calibration processes and reduce equipment downtime.
  2. Stay updated on the latest calibration technologies, industry standards, and best practices to ensure best-in-class practices are being followed.
  3. Provide training and mentorship to less experienced technicians, as needed, on calibration techniques, tools, and procedures.

  1. Safety & Environmental Compliance:
    Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  2. Wear and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols in accordance with site-specific guidelines.

  1. Communication & Teamwork:
    Communicate effectively with team members, engineering, operations, and management to ensure calibration activities are performed efficiently.
  2. Provide regular updates on calibration progress, issues, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Education: Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience in calibration or maintenance.
  2. Experience:
    Experience in calibration, maintenance, or a technical role in a regulated manufacturing environment.
    Experience with calibration tools, measurement instruments, and control systems.
    Knowledge of calibration standards (e.g., ISO 9001, FDA, cGMP) and regulatory requirements.
  3. Skills:
    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    Familiarity with calibration documentation and record-keeping practices.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Proficiency with basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, calibration management systems).
    Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Previous experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing.
  2. Knowledge of process control systems (e.g., DCS, PLC) and automated instrumentation.
  3. Experience with calibration software or systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms).
  4. Certification in calibration or related fields (e.g., ISA, ASQ).

Additional Information:
  1. Work Hours: Standard 8-hour shifts, with flexibility for after-hours and weekend work as required.
  2. Travel: Occasional travel may be required for training, audits, or cross-site support.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
