Job summary

MTS Systems Corporation in Eden Prairie, MN seeks a Calibration Technician to join the metrology team. You will calibrate measurement and test equipment across physical, dimensional, and electrical disciplines and grow technically through a clear path to advanced expertise.

Responsibilities include developing calibration procedures, ensuring traceability, maintaining records, and supporting continuous improvement while following 5S lean principles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of experience calibrating MTE.
• AAS or technical degree, or equivalent military experience preferred.
• Understanding of QMS, ISO/IEC 17025, traceability and uncertainty.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Fluke Met/Team database and SAP.

• Perform calibration of MTE using approved procedures.
• Create and execute calibration procedures using measurement science.
• Determine measurement standard suitability and uncertainty.
• Troubleshoot calibration operations and perform corrective actions.
• Maintain calibration records and documentation in MET/TEAM.
• Adapt equipment, standards, and procedures for unique measurements; provide tech support.
• Support continuous improvement projects and process ideas.
• Communicate progress and changes clearly with management; uphold 5S lean principles.

We're looking for a Calibration Technician to join our metrology team, performing calibrations on measurement and test equipment across physical, dimensional, and electrical disciplines. We are open to a range of experience levels and will provide a clear path to grow your technical expertise.

What you'll do:

• Perform calibration of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) using approved procedures, ensuring compliance with calibration requirements and traceability


• Create and execute calibration procedures by applying measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics


• Determine measurement standard suitability and account for measurement uncertainty


• Troubleshoot calibration operations and perform corrective actions as needed


• Maintain calibration records and process documentation using the Metrology database (MET/TEAM)


• Adapt equipment, standards, and procedures for unique measurements and provide technical support


• Support continuous improvement projects and process enhancement ideas


• Communicate progress, issues, and process changes clearly with management, and maintain 5S lean principles

What you bring:

• High School Diploma or GED


• 1+ year of experience calibrating M&TE


• AAS or technical degree, or equivalent military experience, preferred


• Understanding of QMS, calibration requirements, and accreditation standards, including familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, measurement traceability, and uncertainty


• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)


• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills


• Familiarity with Fluke Met/Team database and SAP a plus


• Strong math and physics background preferred

Compensation Information:

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24-$37 based on relevant education and experience.
