Job summary

Trescal Inc. is seeking a Calibration Technician Level 2 in the Fort Worth area to perform calibrations on medium to high-level test and measurement instrumentation and support general lab duties.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and lead field calibration activities while maintaining traceability and QA documentation. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a lab setting (military or civilian), strong metrology knowledge, and proficiency in Windows-based software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2 years of commercial or military laboratory experience.
• Basic knowledge of metrology practices and theories; analog and digital circuit analysis.
• Basic troubleshooting and repair capabilities; work on unique equipment.
• Proficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation software.
• Ability to evaluate standards and accreditation scope for M&TE calibration.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet research, and database management.
• Mentoring and training abilities with customers and peers.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customer satisfaction through accurate work and timely turnaround.
• Create and verify calibration data sheets based on instrument specs and approved procedures.
• Develop calibration procedures meeting customer requirements with traceability.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently with low discrepancy.
• Maintain technical proficiency via self-study and training programs.
• Coordinate and lead teams performing field calibration and maintenance.
• Identify and communicate potential sales leads when appropriate.
• Support general laboratory operations efficiently.
• Assist Lab Manager with technician training and customer education.
• Support QA in developing uncertainty budgets.
• Ensure timely preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Perform daily inspections of incoming equipment and update status.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The Calibration Technician - Level 2 is required to perform calibrations on medium to high level test and measurement instrumentation and assist in general laboratory duties as assigned. This person should be able to troubleshoot and repair simple malfunctions. The technician must be self-motivated and rarely requires guidance from other personnel in the measurements it is proficient. Collateral duties may be assigned as a permanent part of the position description depending on individual’s abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of medium- to high-level test and measurement equipment with minimal supervision.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through accurate work and timely turnaround of all equipment and services.
• Create and verify calibration data sheets for technical accuracy based on instrument specifications and approved procedures.
• Develop calibration procedures that meet customer requirements while maintaining full measurement traceability.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently, maintaining a combined QDI/PVI discrepancy rate of 5% or less.
• Maintain technical proficiency through self-study, training programs, and proficiency testing.
• Coordinate and lead teams performing field calibration and maintenance activities.
• Identify and communicate potential sales leads when appropriate.
• Support general laboratory operations in an efficient and organized manner.
• Assist the Laboratory Manager with technician training and customer education as needed.
• Support Quality Assurance in developing uncertainty budgets.
• Ensure timely and proper preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Perform daily inspections of incoming equipment, verifying accessories, identifying malfunctions, and updating equipment status as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Military (PMEL) experience or two years of a technical associates degree
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial or military laboratory experience
• Basic knowledge of metrology practices and theories, analog and digital circuit analysis
• Experienced in calibrating several disciplines of dimensional devices, thread plugs, thread rings, plain rings, various calipers, various micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, pins of all classes, etc.
• Possess basic troubleshooting and repair capabilities, and the ability to work on unique equipment with product information
• Proficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation software
• Ability to evaluate appropriate standards and scope of accreditation to determine if these tools are acceptable for calibrating M&TE
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements
• Experienced in calibrating several disciplines of test and measurement equipment such as: Physical, Dimensional, Electronics, Temperature, and Pressure
• Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.
• Proficient computers skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Internet Research and Database management
• Skilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor and train
• Ability to travel up to 40% (local and overnight, as needed)
