We are seeking a Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join our engineering team.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing engine and powertrain control calibrations for advanced gasoline and hybrid applications, ensuring an optimal balance of performance, drivability, efficiency, and emissions compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibration Development: Develop, optimize, and validate powertrain calibrations with a strong focus on torque management, transient airflow/aircharge, spark timing, and fueling strategies.
- Drivability Tuning: Calibrate and refine vehicle drivability characteristics—including pedal progression, tip-in/tip-out response, and seamless torque blending for hybrid systems.
- Testing & Validation: Execute comprehensive testing across engine dynamometer cells and full vehicles to meet performance, fuel economy, and emissions targets under diverse environmental conditions.
- Data Analysis & Tooling: Utilize standard data acquisition and calibration tools (such as ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, or Vector CANape) to flash controllers, capture high-speed logs, and diagnose anomalies.
- Strategy & Code Interpretation: Review MATLAB/Simulink models and interpret underlying control strategies and C code to collaborate effectively with software and controls teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of professional engine and/or powertrain calibration experience.
- Powertrain Background: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Gasoline and Hybrid vehicle architectures.
- Domain Expertise: Proven proficiency in Torque, Airflow/Aircharge, Spark, Fueling, and Drivability calibration.
- Tool Proficiency: Working knowledge of industry-standard calibration packages like ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, or Vector CANape.
- Software Literacy: Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and the ability to interpret control logic and C code.
