Job summary

Impellam Group is seeking a Calibration Engineer focused on engine controls calibration for North America and global markets in Ann Arbor, MI. The role entails completing engine calibration to meet emission, fuel economy, power, drivability and OBD standards while adhering to procedures and development deadlines.

You will prepare calibration schedules, perform test data collection and analysis, and generate technical reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of engine calibration experience.
  • Thorough understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice.
  • Experience with emission, drivability or OBD calibration.
  • Ability to calibrate engine controls for markets outside the US.
  • Knowledge of US and global Emission/OBD regulations.

Job description

Calibration Engineer position focused on engine controls calibration for North America and global markets. This role involves completing engine calibration in accordance with procedures to meet regulations and performance targets including emission, fuel economy, power, drivability, and OBD standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Calibration of engine controls for North America and global markets
  • Complete engine calibration in accordance with procedures to meet regulations and other performance targets (emission, fuel economy, power, drivability and OBD)
  • Prepare and manage calibration and resource schedule to meet development deadlines
  • Test preparation, data collection, data analysis, and technical report creation on a regular basis
  • Build successful relationships with calibration technician group
  • Conduct vehicle testing and development under extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, high altitude)
  • Complete required internal training necessary for job execution (Technical, Driving, etc.)
  • Perform software logic and value confirmation activities
Requirements - education & experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical or other related Engineering discipline
  • Experience in engine calibration (1+ years)
  • Excellent driving record
  • Thorough understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice
  • Experience investigating technical issues and creating effective technical solutions
  • Emission, bench, drivability or OBD calibration experience in conventional and/or hybrid powertrain
  • Experience calibrating engine controls for markets other than the US (Japan, Europe, China, etc.)
  • Understanding of Emission and OBD regulations for US and other markets
Required skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink/C/C++ programming languages
Nice-to-have / preferred skills
  • Experience with Model-Based Design or Calibration processes
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc.
  • Proficiency in project management tools
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment

Full-time position, 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, Monday through Friday). Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States. On-site work required; remote work not permitted. Travel not required.
