Job summary

An automotive service provider in Brunswick, Georgia is seeking a qualified individual to lead vehicle inspections. This role involves supervising a team, ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards, and providing training and feedback. Ideal candidates will hold a High School Diploma or GED, possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License, and have demonstrated leadership experience. A TWIC Badge will also be required. The position offers full-time hours with potential overtime and weekend work, ensuring safety and efficiency in the inspection process.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge).
• Experience operating automatic and straight (manual) shift vehicles.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in automotive inspection or similar fields.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead vehicle inspections.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards.
• Provide training and performance feedback to team members.
• Oversee inspection of interior components including fit, finish, trim, electrical systems, and accessory functionality.
• Oversee exterior inspections for body damage, paint defects, alignment issues, and overall vehicle condition.
• Ensure proper verification of installation and operation of lights, accessories, and visible mechanical components.
• Monitor paintwork inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Evaluate severity and classification of defects and provide final review when required.
• Serve as primary point of contact for manufacturer representatives regarding inspection findings and compliance matters.
• Coordinate with operations, detailing, and other departments to track, report, and resolve identified issues.
• Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to inspection team members.
• Monitor workflow, staffing needs, and daily productivity to ensure operational efficiency.
• Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with process improvements and implementation of updated inspection standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift:

Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with possible overtime and/or weekend work as needed.

• Supervise and lead CAL Inspectors in performing comprehensive interior and exterior vehicle inspections.
• Ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with manufacturer standards, CAL checklists, and current technical bulletins.
• Review and verify inspection reports, CAL check sheets, and related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee inspection of interior components including fit, finish, trim, electrical systems, and accessory functionality.
• Oversee exterior inspections for body damage, paint defects, alignment issues, and overall vehicle condition.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
• Experience operating automatic and straight (manual) shift vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to review and validate inspection findings.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in automotive inspection, quality control, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior vehicle inspection, quality control, or automotive industry experience.
• Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
• General knowledge of automobile components and vehicle systems.
• Strong ability to make sound judgment calls regarding severity and classification of defects.
• Ability to interpret manufacturer standards and technical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear documentation and team guidance.
• Ability to organize workflow and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Working Attributes:

• Work in confined spaces.
• Work at heights of approximately 15 feet.
• Lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 lbs.
• Extended periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.
• Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, insects, and other environmental conditions.
