Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer to join its Bakery Department. You will decorate, prepare, and coordinate cake orders while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining safety standards.

The role requires decorating skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with customers in a fast-paced retail bakery environment. Night and weekend shifts are required, with on-site work at our Michigan locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; on-the-job training provided.
• Six months or less related experience preferred.
• Decorating skills and cake design awareness required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and take bakery orders at the counter.
• Check and set up daily production schedules and timelines.
• Decorate cakes and bakery items with current designs and trends.
• Lead part-time staff and coordinate with the Bakery Manager.
• Ensure proper sanitation and safe food handling.
• Set up wedding cakes on site and deliver when needed.
• Communicate with store team about displays and specials.
