Qualifications

• Retail experience in a customer-facing role.
• Bakery/cake decorating experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Effective communication skills.
• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important and appreciated.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer samples and assist with bakery items including wedding cakes.
• Recommend bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Check product quality, dates, and use equipment properly.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and current ads; locate products on request.
• Maintain awareness of inventory conditions and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to health, safety and civil regulations.
• Follow merchandising, customer service, labor and safety rules.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity and accidents.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
