Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking a bakery associate to assist customers, respond to product questions, and suggest items throughout the department. You will gain product knowledge, provide samples, and help with baking and decorating tasks.

Responsibilities include labeling and stocking, monitoring freshness and dates, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while supporting store operations and customer engagement.

Qualifications

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
• Be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.

Responsibilities

• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items; prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take appropriate action; use all bakery equipment per company guidelines.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to health, safety, and food safety regulations.
• Ensure adherence to merchandising, customer service, labor, safety, and loss prevention rules.
