Job summary

Shoppers Food is seeking a Cake Decorator to provide direct, friendly customer service and expertly decorate bakery items for sale. The role involves decorating cakes, labeling and pricing products, and assisting customers with selections at the deli counter.

Candidates should be comfortable with shifts including nights and weekends, and adhere to food safety standards. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, preparing salads and deli items, and operating slicers and fryers as needed,

Qualifications

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Knowledge of decorating, specifically cake decorating.
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at various distances.
• Must handle refrigerated and frozen temperatures when retrieving product.
• Must be able to prepare salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
• Must safely operate a slicer and fryer for sliced meats and cheeses and fried foods.
• Must be able to work shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good judgment is required when supervision may not be available.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service in the deli/bakery area.
• Icing, decorating, packaging, labeling, and pricing products for island cases.
• Maintain freezer and refrigerated showcases and ensure product freshness.
• Take customer orders at the deli counter and weigh, label and wrap products.
• Keep work areas clean and in accordance with sanitation procedures.
• Monitor temperatures and ensure proper holding procedures.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
