Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring for a Bakery Department Associate to create an outstanding customer experience in-store. You will assist the department manager in keeping the bakery area safe, clean, stocked, and inviting, while answering questions and offering product suggestions to customers.

Responsibilities include decorating cakes, preparing bakery items, labeling and inventory, checking quality and sell-by dates, and adhering to health, safety, and store policies.

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor quality assurance standards.
• Demonstrate core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions
• Offer product samples and assist with bakery items including wedding cakes per customer requests
• Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates; use bakery equipment
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Understand the store layout and locate products for customers; stay current with ads
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, controls, and procedures
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs
• Report safety risks or issues, and notify management of incidents
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
