Cake Decorator

Job Purpose

Job Summary

Produces high quality decorated items and baked goods according to the company’s standard product offerings. Decorates cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items. Assists in the daily operations in the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. SERVICE (40%): Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated. Ensures department merchandising meets company expectations for product availability, freshness, quality, and value. Offers product samples, answers questions, and assists customers. Maintains an efficient method for receiving and processing customer orders.
  2. FINANCIAL (40%): Completes daily and weekly tasks. Processes merchandise according to production guidelines; reviews product quality for “sell by” dates. Checks production schedule for variety and quantity of goods to bake. Stocks and rotates department products to ensure freshness.
  3. LEADERSHIP (10%): Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating and communicating effectively. Guides the team to meet or exceed goals.
  4. COMPLIANCE/SAFETY (10%): Ensures company standards for safety, food handling practices, and sanitation are maintained. Executes product recalls and reinforces safety programs.

Qualifications

Required Education

High School / GED

English (Spanish preferred)

Relevant Experience

0-3 years minimum

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Operate bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.

Environmental Factors

Retail - Bakery: Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to various working conditions. Safety risk factors include working with hazardous equipment and exposure to sharp objects.

Travel Percent & Overnight

Occasional travel required.
