Job Summary

Our Cake Decorator is a key player in making sure our pastries look and taste amazing. Your primary responsibility will be preparing and decorating products and cakes in the department to ensure only the freshest are available. Job Description

• Experience Required: Satisfactory completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes by taking product from prep area to sales area.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and WOW guests.
• Take special orders from guests over the phone and in person.
• Maintain product quality by checking sales area for dates and condition.
• Document and record daily known loss.
• Prioritize safety for Team Members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Inspire team members and guests with a passion for food.
• Handle products and equipment according to food safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floors.
• Prepare and decorate products for cases and displays, ensuring freshness and proper dating.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and housekeeping standards.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay updated on new products and procedures.
• Ice and decorate cakes using icing and decorating tools.
• Prepare icing and other decorating products following recipes.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom efficiency.
• Operate department equipment safely.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
