Job Summary

Our Apprentice Cake Decorator is a key player in ensuring our pastries look and taste amazing. You will provide exceptional guest service and assist in creating beautiful, delicious cake art for our guests, making their celebrations special. Your main duties include training in all aspects of the Bakery Department, including Clerk and Baker functions, with a focus on cake decorating, especially for those with minimal or no retail decorating experience. To succeed, you should be a team player who supports others, eager to grow into leadership roles, and capable of inspiring your team. Creativity in cuisine, passion for food trends, and a desire to connect and learn from others are essential. Our Cake Decorators are passionate about delivering incredible food and memorable experiences to every guest.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 0 to 6 months
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures, including product information by category, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items, and color mixing.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Prioritize safety in all aspects of work for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping them locate products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Familiarize yourself with store products to assist customers effectively.
• Handle products and equipment following food safety and safety guidelines.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotating stock and following dating procedures to ensure freshness.
• Offer sampling opportunities when appropriate.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and the department to meet safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency.
• Follow department procedures, including setup, order taking, copyright policies, and product rotation.
• Support other areas of the bakery as needed.
