Job Summary

Our Cake Decorator is a key player in ensuring our pastries look and taste amazing. In addition to providing excellent guest service, you'll create beautiful and delicious art for our guests and contribute to the success of their celebrations. As a Team Member, you'll be part of a team that emphasizes building lifelong relationships with our customers by understanding and exceeding their needs. Your primary responsibilities include preparing and decorating products and cakes to ensure only the freshest items are available. Job Description

• Experience Required: Completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
• Education Desired: No High School diploma required.
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds.
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age.

Job Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes, transporting products from prep areas to sales areas.
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests.
• Handle special orders via phone and in person.
• Check sales areas for product dates and condition to maintain quality.
• Record daily known losses.
• Prioritize safety for team members, guests, and products.
• Provide excellent customer service, greeting guests and assisting them in locating products, answering questions, and making suggestions.
• Inspire colleagues and guests with a passion for food and a commitment to excellence.
• Handle products and equipment following food safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas, and utensils to meet sanitation standards.
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, rotate stock, and follow dating procedures.
• Adhere to safety, sanitation, emergency, and housekeeping standards.
• Record special orders accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow department procedures, including product rotation and understanding copyright policies.
• Stay updated on new products and procedures, including product info, special orders, and seasonal items.
• Ice and decorate cakes using spatulas and icing bags.
• Prepare icing and other decorating products by following recipes and measuring ingredients.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and maintaining backroom efficiency.
• Operate department equipment such as mixers, scales, airbrush guns, and knives.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
