Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Ann Arbor, MI seeks a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special orders with artistic flair. You will decorate, finish, and present products while upholding quality and safety standards and delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced setting.

You will train apprentices, work as part of a team, and follow recipes and procedures to ensure accurate signage, pricing, and display.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills, including piping techniques.
• Knowledge of color theory for buttercream colors.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain quality standards.
• Excellent time management and teamwork.
• Strong customer service and communication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures to meet business demand.
• Prioritize production lists and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Merchandise and showcase products in the sales display case to satisfy and delight customers.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other Team Members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing customers' needs promptly and courteously.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment according to safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
