Job description

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Cage Supervisor, the employee operates and performs cash and currency transactions for casino customers at a service window.

This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers, maintaining excellent employee relations.
  2. Safeguards casino assets.
  3. Counts and verifies all cash, coin, and chip transactions in the cage.
  4. Makes change for customers and exchanges coin/chip for cash.
  5. Issues banks, remakes banks, and replenishes change for all departments.
  6. Performs fills for table games and pays out jackpots to electronic gaming devices.
  7. Services ATM and kiosk machines, including adding or decreasing currency.
  8. Complies with federal cash reporting requirements.
  9. Maintains accurate cage cash transmittal forms.
  10. Reports currency counting equipment problems.
  11. Performs duties such as redemption, vault/main bank, check cashing, credit card transactions, cage exchanges, and payouts.
  12. Complies with internal controls, policies, and procedures relevant to this position.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of all casino operation data.
  14. Contributes to team efforts and accomplishes related results as required.
  15. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED plus one year of experience as a cashier or bank teller; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 18 years or older. No felony, theft, or stealing convictions. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain a gaming license, including the following:

  • Proficient in basic mathematics.
  • Familiarity with all cage functions.
  • Skill in cage operations and applicable laws.
  • Clear communication skills in reading and writing in basic English.
  • Outstanding guest service skills at all times.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and co-workers at all levels.
  • Problem-solving and sound decision-making skills.
  • Typing and 10-key operation skills.
  • Proficiency in operating business computers and office machines, including Word and Excel in a Windows environment.
Physical Demands

Requires standing for extended periods; using hands to handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing. Frequently walking. Occasionally sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in the casino cage area with exposure to second-hand smoke, currency dust particles, and high noise levels. Evening, graveyard, holiday, and weekend work may be required, along with extended hours and irregular shifts.
