Job description

Encore Boston Harbor - Casino Cage Cashier is responsible for chip, ticket, cash and check transactions in the casino cage. Other responsibilities include balancing of various bank drawers within the Cage/Credit area, maintaining accuracy throughout all phases of the balancing process, and maintaining confidentiality of casino cage transactions.

Cage Cashier is responsible for issuing and cashing wagering tickets, as well as making sure appropriate materials (racing forms, scratch/odds sheets, and wagering guides) are fully stocked in their designated areas.

Cage Cashier is also responsible for supporting slot machine ticket redemption transactions and other currency and check transactions within the casino cashiers cage.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Adheres to all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards.
  2. Participate in the execution of short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success.
  3. Actively contributes to departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures, records and reports.
  4. Follows all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and property-wide controls.
  5. Delivers and maintains a maximum level of service.
  6. Contributes to company-wide communication and best practices.
  7. Keeps informed of all new developments within the department.
  8. Balances assigned bank accurately.
  9. Cashes chips and gaming tokens into money for guests, in a courteous, timely manner.
  10. Cashes wagering tickets for guests, in a courteous, timely manner.
  11. Cashes personal checks and travelers checks for currency.
  12. Redeems foreign currency, computing accurate exchange rates for the various currency received.
  13. Processes marker buy-back transactions, providing quality service to each guest.
  14. Follows proper procedures pertaining to sale and payout of tickets.
  15. Assists other cashiers as needed.
  16. Performs Front Window, Rolling Cage, VIP Cage, Team Member Bank, Chip Bank and/or Main Bank functions and duties.
  17. Redeems slot machine payout tickets, TITO, vouchers for cash, or cash equivalent.
  18. Performs patron account transactions (i.e., safe keeping, front money deposits, and withdrawals).
  19. Cheque cashing, cheque / marker issuance / redemptions and consolidations.
  20. Performs credit card, EFTPOS cash advances and rolling chip exchanges.
  21. Balances float and brings it back to the impress amount at completion of the shift.
  22. Prepares table fills and receives table credits.
  23. Handles chip transfers between front windows, chip banks and Main Bank.
  24. Maintains accurate and legible balance sheets.
  25. Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.
  26. Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  27. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Age, Gaming and Certifications:

  • 21 years of age or above.
  • Will be required to obtain and maintain a Gaming Level license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent required. Casino or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, a plus.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
  • Minimum 1 year Sports Book writing experience is preferred, but not required.
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Conversational English required. Ability to write instructions. Ability to effectively present information.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.

Essential responsibilities include moderate physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds, and varied instances of standing/walking.
