The Glendale Unified School District is seeking a Cafeteria Worker to perform entry level meal preparation and service in a school cafeteria. The role involves assembling sandwiches, serving on a meal line, washing pots and pans, heating prepared foods, and operating a POS terminal.
Applicants should be prepared for part-time, 3 to 3.5 hour shifts, 9.25 months per year, with a focus on safety, sanitation, and teamwork. Substitute positions may be paid at the first salary step.

The current recruitment process is primarily focused on hiring substitute employees (temporary/as-needed basis paid at the first step of the salary range). Permanent opportunities may also become available at a later time and will include salary increases. See 'Examination Process' section below. All positions are 9.25 months per year, part-time, and range from 3 to 3.5 hours per day.
Sets up serving line according to daily menu. Washes and cuts foodstuffs for cooking. Assembles salads and sandwiches. Assists a Cook/Baker with organising, panning, and setting up food and supplies for site service and transport cabinets, and helps on serving line. Replenishes food on serving line. Heats prepared food. Counts leftover food items and records information. Cleans up after meals, cleans counters and equipment, and washes pots and pans. Operates a point-of-sale computer terminal when needed. Handles cash transactions accurately, including providing change for meals and a la carte purchases.

DESIRABLE:
A review of the applicants' experience and qualifications will be conducted. Based on that evaluation, applicants whose qualifications best meet the current needs of the District will be invited to participate in the next step of the process. For substitute positions, this will include an interview. For permanent positions, it may include a multiple-choice written test and will include a qualifications appraisal interview. Based on their status, candidates will be notified of the details at the appropriate time.
