Job summary

New London Public Schools is seeking a dedicated food service worker to prepare and serve meals under the guidance of the Child Nutrition Program Director. This 10-month, full-time position offers a starting wage of $17.83 per hour and involves serving meals, maintaining kitchen safety, and assisting in supervising students during lunch and recess.

Position Overview:

To prepare and serve food as directed.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in preparation of meals and serving of meals.
• Serves food as directed to meet the recipe specifications.
• Assists in the supervision of the children in the lunch room or recess area.
• Cleans Kitchen and Dining Room as needed.
• Performs cashiering duties in some positions.
• Maintains established departmental and district policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and health and safety standards, and HACCP standards.
• Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, and trust in working with others to achieve goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

• Pushing/Pulling (Frequent) Exerting force upon and object to move that object to the desired location.
• Crouching/Squatting: (Frequent) to access food and materials from floor to waist level or counter.
• Carrying: (Frequent) transporting an object 5 to 10lbs. by hand, arm, or shoulder.

• Coordination Balance: performing work using Eye/Hand/foot using any two.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
